Djarindjin Aboriginal Corporation is also looking at developing a footprint in Broome, this position can be based in Broome with essential travel to Djarindjin as required, or in the Community.

About the Role

As the Community Development Services Manager, you will play a crucial role in leading and managing the delivery of our essential community programs. You will be responsible for overseeing a team of dedicated staff, ensuring the successful implementation of programs that address the needs and aspirations of the Djarindjin community in line with the objectives of the Strategic Plan.

Responsibilities:

  • Providing leadership and supervision to the community development team, fostering a supportive and collaborative work environment.
  • Developing, implementing, and monitoring effective community development programs across key areas like education, employment, health, and economic development.
  • Identifying and securing funding opportunities, acquit funding to support program delivery.
  • Building strong relationships with community members, stakeholders, and service providers to ensure program effectiveness.
  • Advocating for the needs of the Djarindjin community with government agencies and other relevant bodies.
  • Overseeing the efficient and effective management of program budgets.
  • Monitoring and evaluating program outcomes and making data-driven recommendations for improvement.
  • Contributing to the strategic direction of the Corporation’s community development programs.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A tertiary qualification in social science, community development, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in community development or a related role.
  • Demonstrated experience in program management, including development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.
  • Strong understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and protocols.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and rapport with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A commitment to reconciliation and social justice.
  • Police Clearance and the ability to obtain a Working with Childrens Check.

Desirable

  • Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
  • Knowledge of government funding programs relevant to Indigenous Australians.
  • Project management experience.
  • Fluency in an Aboriginal language (desirable but not essential).
