Job Description

Agri Labour Australia is seeking an experienced Production Horticulture Supervisor to oversee and coordinate harvest operations for our team in Emerald, QLD. This full-time position plays a crucial role in ensuring production targets and quality standards are met throughout the harvesting process.

Your Role
As a Production Horticulture Supervisor, you will be responsible for managing harvest schedules, ensuring high-quality produce, and implementing post-harvest processes. The role also involves supervising farm operations, maintaining specialized equipment, and working closely with management to optimize production efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure crops scheduled for harvest meet required withholding periods.
  • Oversee the maintenance and operation of harvest machinery to ensure reliability and efficiency.
  • Monitor harvest quality and address any issues that may impact productivity or market standards.
  • Support post-harvest processes, including handling, storage, and transport to maintain crop quality.
  • Assist in the establishment and management of horticultural crops to improve yield and efficiency.
  • Oversee nursery operations within the packing shed, ensuring optimal plant care and development.
  • Coordinate daily work schedules and supervise farm staff to meet operational requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with the Farm Operations Manager, Shed Production Manager, and Maintenance Supervisor to improve farm processes and address challenges.

Skills & Experience

  • Qualifications: Cert III or Cert IV in Horticulture, Agriculture, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar supervisory role within horticulture or agriculture.
  • Strong understanding of harvesting techniques and post-harvest handling.
  • Experience managing teams, including workers from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to oversee and maintain farm equipment used in harvesting and production.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to implement efficient farm management strategies.
  • Effective leadership and communication skills to train and supervise farm personnel.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to OHS regulations.

Salary & Benefits

  • Annual salary: $66,000 – $74,000 plus overtime and superannuation.
  • Full-time, stable employment in Emerald, QLD.
