Inspired by the historic and culturally significant Indigenous Australian Smokehouse onsite at Glen Helen, your role as the Chef will be to create a menu and environment which honours this heritage and brings new life and a modern take on the ancient practice of smoking and preserving food. High quality and unique customer experience will lead your approach and you will have the support of the business to grow your profile. About Us

No trip to Australia’s Red Centre would be complete without exploring the spectacular West MacDonnell Ranges with its dramatic gorges, scenic mountains, and watering holes. A little over an hour from Alice Springs, Discovery Parks Glen Helen Resort is a fantastic addition to any NT self-drive itinerary, taking travellers to the heart of the Ranges, with Glen Helen Gorge on their doorstep. Set among native bushland with sweeping outback views, holidaymakers can relax in convenience and comfort in extensive motel-style accommodation or make the most of spacious campsites.

About You

You are keen to bring your experience in running a kitchen or young an eager ready to step up and make your mark! To be successful in this role you will need:

  • High energy, with the passion to grow your profile and develop your career
  • Ambition to create one of Australia’s most unique dining environments
  • Knowledge and experience using meat smokers
  • Previous experience and cooking in a similar environment
  • Formal trade qualifications in commercial cooking or equivalent experience
  • Passion for using native indigenous ingredients
  • Proven experience in electronic purchase ordering and cost management
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proven ability to work within a team and autonomously
  • Ability to prep and organise ahead
  • Current First Aid Certificate is highly desirable
  • HACCP experience essential, with a high emphasis on food hygiene
  • Current Drivers Licence.

Pay rates

Chef roles are classified at Levels 4 – 6 & Managerial of the Hospitality Industry Award (HIGA).

The salary range is $60,000 – $85,000 per annum + 10% super + relocation assistance dependent on experience and role. Cook roles are classified at level 3 of the HIGA and have a base pay of $23.67 per hour + casual loading where applicable.
